BELLAIRE, Ohio -- The Bellaire School District is apologizing after buses blocked by this week's movie shoot dropped students off at a nearby shopping plaza, forcing many to walk an unfamiliar route home.Gregory Jeffreys, the father of a 12-year-old student, said he was worried when his daughter didn't get off the bus at 3:15 p.m., as she usually does. When he found out her bus had dropped her off at the Kroger shopping plaza, several blocks from home, he got angry."My daughter didn't know how to get home," Jeffreys said. "She never walked these streets. She had a general idea how to get home, but when she tried to go that way, she got stopped by a cop who told her she couldn't go that way because they were shooting a movie."His daughter tried to follow the railroad tracks that run past her home on Hamilton Street, but because "Unstoppable" was being filmed on those tracks, she was blocked by a private security guard hired by the film company. When she got home an hour late, Jeffreys was furious that school officials had not contacted him to let him know his daughter had been dropped off at a different location."That's where I believe we dropped the ball, to be honest," said Tony Scott, superintendent of Bellaire Schools. "Our communications broke down at that point."Scott said the district and 20th Century Fox had spent months going over traffic patterns for this week's film shoot, and he believed there would be no interruption to regular bus routes.Scott insists that he and the film company have worked out all future transportation glitches.Jeffreys told NEWS9 he feels that does not excuse the communication breakdown between the district and parents."That's no excuse, endangering any child," said Jeffreys. "From the minute they (the district) pick them up in the morning until they come home in the evening, they are responsible for them."Jeffreys said he will be driving his daughter to and from school for the remainder of the film shoot.Local filming on "Unstoppable" is expected to wrap up this weekend.
