Holiday Home Lights Up Local Skies

A Toronto family is taking holiday decorating to the extreme.

They've covered their entire home with Christmas lights for yuletide attention and for a good cause.

The White family started planning this seasonal masterpiece in March.

Home owner Dave White said, "As far putting it up, we start the last week of September."

White takes Christmas decorating seriously, but he's also serious about giving back.

"This is our third year collecting for the charities. We did the Salvation Army one year, then the Jefferson County Red Cross," said White. "This year, we're going to collect for the Toronto Food Pantry."

White said each year thousands of people pay his home a visit.

Visitor Patrick Bauman said, "They're awesome. They're great this year."

From reindeer carrying Santa’s sleigh to a choir singing Christmas songs, the home has everything imaginable including pieces of Ohio Valley history.

"I have the big lanterns that used to hang in Toronto and the big red and white bells that use to hang in Irondale," said White.

Before White switched to LED lights and controlled them by computer the display cost him an extra $500 on his electric bill but it now costs him an additional $125.

The light display is also set to music.

Drivers can listen from their cars by tuning their radios to 107.3 F.M.
