Toronto Police Investigating Another Unsolved Burglary

Posted: 1:23 pm EST November 27, 2009Updated: 7:51 pm EST November 27, 2009

A burglary at a Toronto gas station overnight brings the total number of unsolved theft-related cases in the city to four.

Police said a thief smashed through a window of the BP gas station overnight, stealing cash and undisclosed items.

The first theft-related crime in recent weeks was at Family Dollar store. Later, the S.C. Dennis Elementary School was burglarized. Then, a man robbed the Toronto Apothecary by holding a cashier at gunpoint.

Three of the four crimes have happened along Franklin Avenue and local residents said they're concerned that their neighborhood is not as safe as it once was.

"It concerns me a lot," said Diana Pettengill. "I've lived in Toronto all my life and this is the kind of place where you never had to lock your doors and things like that and I always felt safe here. … It concerns me a lot."
