Brooke County Pizza Shop Burglarized; Culprit Remains At Large

Police are searching for the person who burglarized a Brooke County pizza shop overnight.

Deputies said someone broke glass at DiCarlo's Pizza on Hooverson Heights and stole a couple of hundred dollars from the cash registers.

While many neighbors are taking extra precautions to keep their homes safe, Harley Morris, who lives in an apartment complex next door to the pizza shop on May Road, said he's not surprised. Morris said someone recently broke into his neighbor's apartment and stole jewelry and other valuables.

Police never found the burglar and like other residents, Morris said he's concerned.

"Especially when you have young children, you have to watch your back and whatnot," Morris said. "In a small community, you don't expect that to happen."

He said he's put a new deadbolt lock on his back door and said his front door is next. Jessica Elban said she's being extra cautious as well by making sure her car doors are always locked.

The owner of the DiCarlo's pizza shop said she is offering a reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
