Icy Road Conditions Cause Crashes Across The Ohio Valley

Freezing rain Sunday morning was responsible for a number of crashes that were reported across the Ohio Valley because of icy road conditions.The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the entire viewing area at about 6 a.m. Sunday letting everyone know that freezing rain could cause traffic difficulties and to be prepared for slippery roads and sidewalks.A number of main roadways, including some on-ramps to US 22, were shut down until road crews could lay salt.

Ice accumulations of up to 0.10 inch were reported throughout the Ohio Valley.Weather conditions are expected to improve this afternoon as air temperatures will rise above freezing allowing the ice to melt.Stay with NEWS9 and wtov9.com for continuing coverage.
