Alcohol Suspected As Factor In Fatal Tuscarawas County Crash

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they suspect alcohol was a factor in a fatal Tuscarawas County crash Sunday.

Scott L. Armstrong, 39, of Uhrichsville, died as a result of the crash.

The one-vehicle crash happened at around 7:30 p.m. on Latto Road near Riggs Driver.

Police said Armstrong was driving the 2000 Ford F-350 truck when he lost control on the partially snow-covered roadway. Trooper said the truck veered off the road and struck a tree, partially ejecting Armstrong. Investigators said Armstrong was not wearing a seat belt.

According to state troopers, Armstrong was transported to Aultman Hospital then airlifted to Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 2 a.m.

His passenger, Cory A. Sproul, 27, also of Uhrichsville, suffered minor injuries. Troopers said Sproul was wearing a seat belt.
