Ben Roethlisberger Facing New Sexual Assault Allegations

Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is accused of sexually assaulting a college student in a bar in Georgia early Friday morning, police said.

A night out bar hopping in Milledgeville has landed the high-profile quarterback in the middle of a criminal investigation.

"He has been identified as being at the scene and there are allegations naming him as the perpetrator," said a Milledgeville police investigator.

The accuser, a 20-year old college student, said Roethelisberger sexually assaulted her inside a bar -- making this the second sexual assault allegation against him in a matter of months.

Police in Georgia said they are working with evidence that's being sent to a crime lab, but most of the investigation hinges on witness statements.

"We are gathering information and that is the only comment we have at this time," said Pittsburgh Steelers’ Spokesperson Dave Lockett.

"Last night, Ben and his friends met a group of women and everyone mingled together throughout the evening. We have spoken to law enforcement. Based on information currently available, an allegation was made against Ben, which appeared to be dismissed after a preliminary investigation last night. Obviously, given the prior accusation against Ben, we are skeptical of motive, but we will continue to cooperate with everyone involved," said Roethlisberger’s agent Ryan Tollner.

Roethelisberger is currently fighting a civil suit against a former Nevada hotel employee who claims he raped her.

This is the first criminal investigation to follow allegations against Roethlisberger.

He's not charged at this point. The district attorney is expected to review the case before any charges are filed.

The Milledgeville police are expected to release more details about the case Monday.
