While unloading a tanker truck containing lime slurry, a WTI employee found the truck driver in the bottom of the tank, which still had some slurry inside.
According to WTI, all employees in the area responded to the call for help, and together they removed the driver from the tank, gave him first aid and put him in an ambulance.
The employee who went into the tank to try to rescue the driver was taken to the hospital in a second ambulance for treatment.
A comprehensive investigation is underway, according to a WTI news release. Company personnel have notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
No hazardous waste was involved in the accident and no product was released into the environment, according to a WTI news release.
