West Virginia Gubernatorial Republican Nominee- Monty Warner Visits Weirton
Thursday Monty Warner took his campaign to the senior center in Weirton. The reason Warner wants to focus a lot of his time there, is because it represents an area that is loosing a lot of it's population to neighboring states. And that's a problem Warner wants to fix.
Today Warner told News 9 that statistics show that West Virginia has the second oldest population in the country next to Florida. And he says the reason for that is because all of the young people are leaving because they can't find work.
Warner said "It's very sad that we're loosing the children and grand children of these senior citizens to other areas because we can not change the business climate in West Virginia. "
Recently the population in the state has dropped to about 1-point- 8 million...And according to Warner, the fewer people who live in the state, the higher the taxes will be for those who do live here many of them senior citizens.
And Monty Warner's platform is focused on retaining the people who live in the state, and bringing in others. He told News 9 "we have a free market and a free market economy. The business and jobs will grow in this state when we remove the barriers to business creation. It's a very simple solution. "
Warner says he plans to spend a lot of time campaigning in the Northern Panhandle. In fact, he'll be in the area again, next week.
