According to Douglas Damplugh of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the DEA Task Force in Youngstown began an investigation concerning the interstate trafficking of multiple pounds of cocaine from Arizona to Northeast Ohio.
Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, police stopped a vehicle and found the cocaine under the backseat of the car. The occupants of the vehicle, Elizabeth Perez of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Anthony Salinas of Phoenix, Arizona were arrested at the scene. Officers later arrested Juan Valencia of Phoenix, Arizona at a local hotel.
The three people are being criminally charged in U.S. District Court in Youngstown with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine.
