Yorkville Police Chief Fired
Village authorities say Yorkville Police Chief Gary Anderson was terminated on March 9, 2005 in a meeting with the mayor and village council. Village authorities cite several reasons for Anderson's termination. They say there was an incident involving former Yorkville police officer Frank Pinacchio. Police say recently Pinacchio used his badge to get into an event in Pennsylvania, saying he still works as a cop in Yorkville. Robinson Township police called Chief Anderson to verify Pinacchio's employment with the department, and Anderson said Pinacchio was still working as an officer.
That situation prompted another investigation into Chief Anderson's files. In the process, lots of undone paperwork was found, including evidence former officer Pinacchio was never registered with the state. Additional evidence shows other officers weren't registered with the state either. Being this is illegal, village authorities took action to remove Anderson from his position.
Anderson has 10 days to appeal his termination. Meantime, John Morelli is acting as police chief. We tried to reach Mayor John DeFillipo for comment, but he was out of the office. We were also unable to reach Gary Anderson for comment.
