Belmont County Deputies Arrest North Carolina Fugitive

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OH -- Belmont County deputies tracked down a man wanted for attempted murder in North Carolina over the weekend.
According to Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson, Curtis Moore shot at his ex-girlfriend Saturday and then turned the gun on her 13-year-old daughter. Thompson says the gun misfired on the teen and Moore fled. Neither victim was seriously injured.
North Carolina authorities notified local police that Moore could be fleeing to the Ohio Valley to stay with family in St. Clairsville. Officers found Moore's car at his father's house just outside city limits. Thompson says members of the swat team surrounded the house, and Moore turned himself in without incident.
According to Moore's father, his son would never try to hurt anyone.
"He didn't try to kill anyone, that's a fact," said Dale Moore. "The boy is a good worker, I raised him up right, and I just hope everything turns out for the best."
Moore will have an extradition hearing later this week. Thompson says he is facing charges in North Carolina of attempted murder and malicious wounding.
