Dog Pound Mishap?

A Steubenville woman said she dropped two dogs off at the pound on Friday with the hope they would find the dogs a good home. But when Estelle Hilliale called Wednesday to find out whether the dogs had been adopted, she said the pound claimed they were already dead.

Pound officials said there was a misunderstanding, and that only one dog was put to sleep and the other was adopted. The official said they had to kill the dog because it was a Pit Bull mix, and that it is their policy.

Hilliale claims it wasn't part Pit Bull and said if she had known the dog would have been killed, she wouldn't have dropped it off.

She contacted city commissioners who said they will investigate to see if there was any wrong doing.

"People drop their animals there, they shouldn't be killed the same day, they should at least be given a chance to find a home," said Hilliale.

She said she has a meeting set up with commissioners to discuss what happened. She wants the pound to be held accountable.
