ATV Incident May Be Due To Internal Injuries
It seems the ATV incident in Centerville on Saturday may not have been an accident at all.
Police tell NEWS9 they believe it could have been internal injuries that led to the death.
Police said when they arrived on the scene; they found 19-year old Troy Wells of Alledonia sitting on his ATV with his head on the steering wheel.
His friend who was riding with him, told Police he and Wells had been drinking, but he fell asleep and he thought Wells had just passed out.
Police said he was not passed out, and had been dead for over 7 hours by the time they arrived on the scene.
Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson said he thinks Wells may have landed too hard while riding, may have hit his chest and possibly bled internally. Coroner Dr. Troy Balgo said that is a possibility, but right now, its still very unclear.
"There were no obvious signs of trauma outward signs of any injuries to the body and he was found on an ATV, so he was sent to Licking County where we do our autopsy for further evaluation. We can tell internal injuries or anything else that could have caused the death." Balgo said.
The final autopsy results will be available in 4-6 weeks.
