Paint Huffer Arrested Again

Patrick Tribett of Wheeling was arrested for the fourth time for huffing paint.

His mug shot brought him worldwide attention on the web because his hands and face were covered in paint.

Tribett's most recent arrest, on Sunday, happened when police responded to calls on Wheeling's Main Street.

Wheeling Police Sgt. John Wroten said, "People saw him huffing and they called the police and police responded. They found him nearby and he did have paint on his hands and face and he was intoxicated."

Clinical Psychologist Dr. Frank James said many people huff household chemicals because it's accessible.

"Glue, paint, and computer cleaner, you can buy them in a store without any suspicion unless you're buying them in large quantities. So, as a result, it's an anonymous type of addiction," said James.

Since chemicals like paint are highly addictive, Dr. James said he's not surprised Tribett would attempt to huff paint again.

"It's a chronic disease at some point. It's not surprising that he would relapse," said James.
