Illegal Aliens Caught In Wheeling
Wheeling police found two suspected illegal aliens at a bus stop near Lincoln Drive and National Road, and when they asked for identification, police said both men showed Mexican driver's licenses.
The officers said when they asked 42-year-old Carlos Gonzalez and 22-year-old Jose Guadalupe Salvidar Garcia if they were U.S. citizens, both men said no. However they did say they were living and working on Wheeling Island. Police said the men said they were working at Golden Chopsticks on North York Street.
Restaurant owner Martin Tse said he hired the two men a few months ago as dishwashers, and claimed they showed his former manager Maryland driver's licenses. Tse said he never questioned their authenticity because he did not want to discriminate.
More than 80 illegal aliens have been busted by police in Ohio County recently, and residents said they are upset and want something done about it.
Honestly there's got to be something people can do, I mean there's got to be something that law enforcement can do to stop them from coming in," said Dorothy Richardson.
I just don't agree with them. They catch them, and then they sometimes let them go, and not do anything. If they keep doing that, what's going to happen," said Charlie Dunn.
Police notified Customs and Immigration agents in Pittsburgh, who picked up Gonzalez and Garcia.
