Early voting to begin this week in W. Va.

WEST VIRGINIA —

West Virginians will head to the polls this week for early voting with two weeks left to get ballots in before Election Day.

With busy schedules taking over people's day to day lives, voters said they are looking forward to the option of early voting on Oct. 24 until Nov. 3.

"I think it's fine for those people who have difficult schedules and can't vote on Election Day," said Judy Paesani, a West Virginia resident.

As more people approach the polls in the Mountain State, U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld, for the Northern District of West Virginia, is launching an anti-voter fraud initiative. It aims to prevent crimes like fake votes and bribes. But voters have their own opinions.

"I don't know that I agree with that. I think that everyone should be able to vote if they're on the register," said Paesani.

Others shared a different view.

"I think that's a fine idea. This whole business about voter fraud, I'm a little skeptical about how real a problem it is," said Jay Frey of Wheeling. "It's been going on over in Ohio as well with that controversy, and Pennsylvania now wants photo IDs to vote."

No matter when voters visit the precinct, residents said they are looking forward to the outcome of this year's election and how it will affect the governments on local, state and national levels.

Hours of all early voting locations are on the secretary of state's website, at http://www.sos.wv.gov/elections/.
