Bellaire man indicted on charges of raping, kidnapping wife

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- A Bellaire man accused of shooting a gun, kidnapping and raping his wife, then taking off with his children was indicted by a Belmont County Grand Jury.
It’s a case that stems to Nov. 29, 2013 when police took 27-year-old Donald Bennington was arrested when shots rang out at a home on Trough Run Road following a domestic dispute or assault.
Bennington was indicted on our felony charges with specifications have been handed down by a grand jury – rape, two counts of kidnapping, all with firearm specifications, and another charge of felonious assault.
Judge Frank Fregiato set Bennington’s bond at $1 million, well above the minimum, or standard.
If Bennington should meet the conditions of bond, he's been ordered to have no contact with the victim in this case or her mother.
Bennington just finished serving a 6-month jail sentence for a previous case of domestic violence out of a different Belmont County Court.
When Fregiato learned that Thursday morning, he said he's satisfied with his decision for high bond considering circumstance.
Bennington will appear in court again on June 9, where a pre-trial and a plea agreement hearing will be held.
