BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -  State representative Bill Johnson hosted the 2nd Annual "Ohio 6th District Collaboration Forum" at Undo's in St. Clairsville on Wednesday.
The forum was for area leaders from all 18 counties in the district to find out what kind of resources are out there that will ultimately help them put a plan together for their community's needs. Those range from economic to community development, to business and non-profit projects, to shared services.
The forum covered a lot of ground for local officials who are trying to envision changes and make a difference.
"(Johnson) has proven himself to be a friend of local government," Belmont County Commissioner Ginny Favede said. "In government, one of the most important relationships you can have is with your higher, federal legislators and your state legislators."
Joy Padgett, deputy director of the Governor's Office of Appalachia said, "Dreams don't work unless you make them goals. That's the only difference between a dream and a goal is that a goal has a plan.
"So these are all the different resources and people who can actually put that plan together so that you actually do have a ribbon cutting at the end."
The panel discussion with representatives from the Governor's Office of Appalachia, USDA Rural Development, and the Ohio Economic Development Association, helped community leaders to be able to put a face to the names of people from various agencies that could ultimately stimulate big, local changes.
