BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio --

A man accused of having sex with young girls will soon be headed to jail for failing to appear in court.

Richard Hart is in a nursing home but will be transported to jail by next Thursday.

Hart, 50, posted bond last year then jumped off an overpass. He did not show up for court Thursday and his attorney said Hart could not obtain money needed to transport him to court.

The attorney said Hart has extensive medical problems from that jump, including an amputated leg.

Prosecutors said his condition has caused problems getting the alleged victims justice.

"His medical condition came about after he was charged with the first count of rape and after that he was unavailable and never hired an attorney so we had no way of communicating with him," assistant prosecutor Helen Yonak said.

Both sides said getting Hart to jail could cause taxpayers an extensive amount of money.
