ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio --

A community is mourning after a 13-year-old boy was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Belmont County on Tuesday.

Dom Nardo, an eighth-grade student St. Clairsville Middle School, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. just off Route 9 on Elizabeth Avenue in St. Clairsville.

Grief and spiritual counselors were available to students at the middle school on Wednesday. The superintendent also said they met with staff to explain how to help students coping with the loss.

"He was very well-liked. Very popular kid. And we're just all devastated (and) shocked. It's tough to deal with, but St. Clairsville is a great place. We usually pull together and support each other and do what we need to do to get through tough times,” Superintendent Walt Skaggs said.

The middle school band concert and a parent meeting for the new ALICE program were canceled Wednesday because of the accident.
