BELLAIRE, Ohio -- Bellaire Police arrested William Ray Cunningham for aggravated burglary after an investigation revealed that he had broken into the residence of a 75-year-old woman in the 2100 block of Guernsey Street on Saturday.
Several items, including a safe and jewelry, were recovered. The jewelry was recovered from a Martins Ferry jewelry shop Monday and matched the items taken. Along with the jewelry was Cunningham's photo ID.
Cunningham, 28, was taken to Belmont County Jail for lockup and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
The investigation continues as to the location of additional stolen property.
Chief Mike Kovalyk reminded residents to keep all doors and vehicles locked and not to let anyone into their home if they don't know them.
It was approximately 23 months ago when 92-year-old Lydia Ashworth's home was burglarized and she was murdered. Two suspects Devon fuller and Brandon Phelps were found guilty of her death and are now in prison.
