Belmont County medical supply business abruptly closes

Updated: Friday, April 11 2014, 02:41 PM EDT
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio - A local medical supply company has closed up shop, without warning, after providing its services to valley residents for more than eight years.
The phone number for Patriot Medical Supply has been disconnected.
"We have been answering a lot of calls lately for people," said Jim Rainery of Morristown Pharmacy and Homecare. "Just confused."
Local residents are left confused about the closed signs on the door because of a seemingly hurried -- and for many, unexpected - closure of the business.
Rainery said his own attempt to find answers has come up short and noted that Patriot's sudden closing can be troublesome for patients who rely on its services.
"Many people don't know they need service or they need help until it's too late," Rainery said. "Could be in the middle of the night, the electricity goes out and their oxygen concentrator doesn't have the power to work."
Rainery is urging patients to be prepared for unexpected, emergency situations like those by contacting a new medical supply provider.
"Knowing ahead of time is the key," he said.
Patriot Medical Supply is a subsidiary of Global Medical Equipment of America, Inc., based out of Phoenix, Ariz.
NEWS9s's calls to that facility in my attempt to find answers were unsuccessful.
