BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – More than 4 years an 80-year-old woman went missing from a Bellaire retirement home and 43 months after her remains were found, a jury has awarded her family $500,000 in a civil trial.
The verdict was read after 6 p.m. Thursday inside the Belmont County Courthouse, ending a four-day trial.
Luella Edge, who stayed at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire for one day, wandered away from the building and was never seen alive again.
Seven months after she went missing, her remains turned up in a civilian search effort through the thick brush and briars on the hillside just 600 yards behind the CCRC.
