Updated: Saturday, September 14 2013, 09:52 PM EDT

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio---

The St. Clairsville Police department says several people have reported suspicious men going door-to-door acting as carpet and linoleum salesman.

Two men walked into two separate homes occupied by elderly women.

The first incident happened on Hutchinson Drive and the resident told the men to leave, which they did.

The second incident was on North Market Street. The resident was distracted by one of the males and the other went into her bedroom and stole some jewelry.

The males were driving a white four door SUV, possibly an older Honda CRV in good condition, with no front plates.

The men at the homes were described as a large white man, clean shaven wearing a red t-shirt and blue ball cap. The other was a smaller built man with a possible Hispanic dissent. There was possibly another white male in the vehicle.

Police are urging everyone to keep their door locked and not let anyone in their homes they are not familiar with.

If you see any suspicious activity, you are urged to call police or the NEWS9 Crimebusters tip line at (800) 862-BUST.
