BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. -- From meth lab busts to heroin arrests, it’s safe to say police are focusing on drug abuse in the Ohio Valley.
At Brooke High School, they’re taking a stand, too, but in a creative way.
With the help of the Brooke-Hancock family source network, theater students are putting on a play titled “Sticks and Stones.”
The focus is to show the importance of keeping a community drug-free, something the kids say is critical here in the valley.
Students were rehearsing Monday afternoon with two shows planned for Monday night and two more Tuesday, all taking place at the high school auditorium.

The shows start at 5 and 7 p.m. both days and everyone is invited to attend. Tickets cost $5 with the proceeds going to the Angela Casinelli foundation. Casinelli was a 2013 Brooke High School graduate who suddenly died last August.
