BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. --

A Mingo Junction man accused of possessing hundreds of images of child pornography pleaded guilty on Monday.

James Sepik, a former area softball coach, was sentenced to eight consecutive years in prison, which is two years for each count.

By entering the plea, Sepik, 46, gave up his right to a trial by jury.

The prosecution noted on Monday that they would not bring forward any additional charges against Sepik following the guilty plea. But, they said they could have brought more charges against him considering there were hundreds of child pornography images.

The investigation started when a parent found a flash drive at a Follansbee softball field. The parent turned the drive over to authorities in June, which led to Sepik's arrest in mid-August.

Judge Ronald Wilson ordered that Sepik start serving his jail sentence immediately.

In addition, Sepik was fined $250 for each charge and he will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years after he's released from jail.
