Residents voice concerns about drivers damaging parked cars

WELLSBURG, W.Va. - Residents are worried about possible intoxicated drivers who are cutting through their streets. They know it's happening because of the wreckage left behind.
People living along Charles Street recently woke up to find a trail of destruction with several banged up cars. One woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said it wasn't the first time it has happened.
"This is the second time my son's car has been hit here and we have nowhere else to park," she said.
Two other cars along Charles Street were also hit. Red paint can be seen scratched along the side of all three cars. This time, police are still looking for the driver, but this problem isn't new.
"There have been similar other incidents when the cars were hit and one was wrecked so bad the guy had to stop," Wellsburg Police Lt. Lester Skinner said. "He was drinking, and he was arrested."
Skinner said it's an issue because of drunk drivers trying to dodge patrols.
"That's happened before and a lot of people do use the back roads to avoid police on Route 2," he said.
Neighbors want something done before someone gets hurt.
Police are looking over a few cameras from businesses around the area to find clues about this latest driver. The biggest thing they say you can do is call them when you see something or hear something happening.
