BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. - Brooke High School has been evacuated because of a bomb threat.
While NEWS9 doesn't normally report bomb threats, the school stabbing incident outside of Pittsburgh early Wednesday morning has heightened fears for a lot of people.
The county Board of Education said officials are searching the school and that students were dismissed for the day.
They also said the Pittsburgh-area school stabbing did not play a role in their decision to send everyone home early.
"This is a terroristic threat at it disrupts the entire education process and possibly the safety of many students," Brooke High School Principal Toni Shute said. "We are always going to err on the side of caution when it comes to their children. We are not going to determine if something is credible or not because in today's world we cannot make those judgments. "

Threats aren't anything new to Brooke. Several have been reported within the last month alone. School officials said they do take them very seriously and are not afraid to expel students who are caught making threats. They also face possible criminal charges and jail time.
