Vandals trash dozens of buildings in Yorkville, Tiltonsville and Rayland

A few weeks ago NEWS9 reported on a rash of break-ins in the Yorkville, Tiltonsville, and Rayland areas.

To date, those crimes have gone unsolved and now investigators in the three police departments are working to solve another string of crime and this time its vandalism.

The crimes happened on Sunday night.

Spray paint on dozens of buildings throughout the three Jefferson County towns; from township garages, to police departments, to resident’s back doors; these vandals don't care what they target.

"We just got done painting it and put new wood in there and everything,” said resident Lee O’Neill. “It's frustrating. I'd just like to see the kids down here cleaning it and painting it."

But there were some places where the vandals got bold. At the Warren Township Garage and the Rayland Municipal Building.

Investigators say they’ve seen this before.

"The same thing happened last summer except they were using a lot of different food items, eggs, mayo, ketchup,” said Cpl. Chase Watts of the Yorkville Police Department. “They did the whole alley of garages, cars, everything you could think of."
