BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- Members of the Belmont County Drug Task Force arrested one person and seized 4 pounds of marijuana after a drug raid in Bellaire on Monday after three controlled buys.
Officers executed a search warrant at the Moss Run Carryout and the residence of Michele Staskey, both located along St. Joe Merritt Road in Bellaire.
After searching both locations, officers seized the marijuana, three 5 gallon buckets with green vegetation growing believed to be marijuana, four guns and almost $1,300 in cash.
Staskey was arrested and charged with possession and cultivation of marijuana.
"For the last few months they've been investigating the residence and the business and were able to come with enough evidence where we served a search warrant on the business," explained John McFarland, commander of the Belmont County Drug Task Force
Officers also noticed several cartons of cigarettes for sale at the store with West Virginia tax stamps on them. They notified the Ohio Department of Taxation. Charges will be filed for that as well. The investigation is still ongoing.
