Charges piling up for Mazik after alleged crime spree

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – A man who was alleged to have been behind a violent February home invasion in a small Belmont County town was back in court Thursday – facing entirely different charges from a more recent crime.
A grand jury handed down two new felony indictments against Patrick Mazik, 27, of having weapons while under disability and theft from March 13 incident.
Mazik pleaded guilty to those charges during an arraignment and said he did not want bond.
He's lodged in the Belmont County jail on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, probation violation, injuring animals, having a weapon under disability and theft.
As for that home invasion in the small town of Holloway on Feb. 24, investigators said a woman was assaulted with a weapon by a masked intruder and the victim's dog was kicked during the crime and was later found dead.
For this latest indictment for having weapons under disability and theft, Mazik is set to appear in court on July 18.
