Crews work to restore water in Bergholz

Updated: Tuesday, February 18 2014, 09:44 PM EST

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio – Residents in the Village of Bergholz spent most of the early part of the week without water because of several breaks.

“It happened Sunday evening,” Mayor Scott Rowan said. “I guess they had lost pressure up in the water tower. They knew they had some leaks but they weren’t sure where the leaks were….”

Rowan said he immediately called the Jefferson County Water Dept. for help. Four breaks were found in the line.

For the most part, water had been restored Tuesday evening with the break between 2nd and Garfield Streets the last to be repaired.

“This winter, of course, it has been colder than any other winter in a while,” Bergholz resident Dean Moretta said. “But we have had several (breaks) right here along the main line.”
