JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- A woman who was allegedly pestering people in a Kroger parking lot to use her food stamp card to get their groceries, and then reimburse her with cash was arrested in Steubenville on Tuesday night.
Police say it’s a common ploy to get money for drugs.
According to reports, 22-year-old Jade Strickland of Follansbee was approaching people, telling them she needed money for gas. After being questioned by police, and admitting to a drug problem, police searched her vehicle and found several items.
Strickland was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments.
Also arrested was Shawn Jacob Scott, who is also facing a pair of drug charges.
