Local leaders in Catholic Church react to Supreme Court ruling

Updated: Monday, June 30 2014, 06:14 PM EDT
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Opponents say it's a setback for women's health, but supporters, including a lot of Ohio and West Virginia lawmakers, are praising the U.S. Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling that closely held private companies like Hobby Lobby can opt out of Obamacare's Mandatory Contraception Coverage.
It's a decision Catholic Diocese of Steubenville Bishop Jefferey Monforton said could lead the way for further challenges to the affordable care act.
"This is a positive decision in favor of what we've contended right from the beginning but at the same time we have other cases that are coming forward with that greatly affect the catholic institutions like Franciscan, Trinity, and catholic schools that can be directed by this mandate."
The Catholic Church and several other religious groups already tried to challenge the mandate once before, but the case was dismissed because the law wasn't affecting them yet.
The Bishop said the church is ready to file again, if necessary.
