WHEELING, W.Va.--

The identity of Wheeling’s newest millionaire is still a mystery after nearly a week. The ticket was sold on Feb. 12 at the Firehouse Marathon gas station on Wheeling Island.

The big winner matched five numbers, but not the Powerball.

Randy Burnside with the West Virginia Lottery says the winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to collect.

“Under state law they have 180 days, but if they do not come forward, that money goes into our unclaimed prize fund, which we use for a second-chance giveaway,” said Burnside.

Wheeling’s ticket is the third $1 million ticket to be sold in West Virginia within a week.

Randy Brown, from Mann, collected his prize last week.

Tuesday, 27 people working for the Beckley Register-Herald newspaper claimed their prize. Each will receive a check worth $27,370.
