A new restaurant has opened inside the McCLure Hotel in downtown Wheeling.

Vagabond Kitchen offers high-end comfort food including sandwiches, salads and more. The restaurant also offers breakfast and dinner.

Matt Welsch, who calls himself the Vagabond Chef, said brunch has become very popular already on Sundays and he is working to have entertainment each week.

Welsch said he is happy to be part of the revitalization project in downtown Wheeling and believes his unique restaurant will be a success.

"We have a mission to succeed beyond financial concerns we have a real belief in what we are doing and it's my belief everyone should have access to amazing food," said Welsch.

Among other things the restaurant also thrives on creativity - local artist are showing off their work.

Bennett McKinley, of Bennett McKinley Photography, has much of his work displayed. The project is called "Meet Me in the Alley," and shows off the many people in the city of Wheeling.

McKinley said he hopes to make an outdoor gallery in the alley featured, next to the Professional Building, and hang hundreds of his photos.

Many of the photos you have probably seen on social media and McKinley said he got the idea while taking marketing photos for a friend. He says the project, involving random photos of anyone willing to participate in the alley way, has really taken off.

"I was very hesitant and didn't think that it would go anywhere, but sure enough it has grown immensely," said McKinley.

If you'd like to see more of Bennett McKinley's photography he has a website and a Facebook page.

Meanwhile, the Vagabond Kitchen also has a website and Facebook page where you can learn more.
