One man behind bars after early morning stabbing

Updated: Monday, July 28 2014, 01:20 PM EDT
SHADYSIDE, Ohio – A Shadyside man is recovering after police say he was stabbed in the back early Sunday morning.
Shadyside police say two men -- who would later become a suspect and a victim -- began drinking Saturday night at the Buzz Inn in Shadyside.
And from there, things went south.
The two men moved from the bar to a home on Lincoln Avenue in the village. Police still aren't sure exactly what transpired at the home, but the end result was a stabbing.
The victim suffered a puncture wound that police say nicked his small intestine. When police arrived just after 3 a.m., they transported him to a hospital, where he's said to have undergone exploratory surgery.
A suspect -- Joseph Lombardi of Bellaire -- was taken into custody a few hours later and charged with one count of felonious assault. He's being held on a $15,000 bond.
Lombardi allegedly told police he tossed the knife used in stabbing into the river, but that theory is still under investigation.
Shadyside Assistant Police Chief Donny Collette said a number of details -- for example, a motive -- are still unknown as interviews continue to be conducted. The case remains under investigation.
