State Route 150 to be restricted for tree trimming work

Updated: Thursday, February 27 2014, 11:36 AM EST

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Beginning Monday, March 3, State Route 150 will be closed during daytime hours between Dillonvale and Rayland in Jefferson County for tree trimming work.

ODOT’s Jefferson County crew will be using a “SkyTrim” unit for canopy removal and right of way clearing and maintenance.

“Clearing overhead canopy from our roads improves our pavement longevity and increases motorist safety in the winter,” ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Lloyd MacAdam said,

Crews are expected to work on SR 150 for the next three weeks between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. No official detour will be posted. Motorists should plan ahead to avoid delays.

The “SkyTrim” is self-contained and requires virtually no set up time. ODOT also uses a similar unit called the “Jarraff” and has completed work in other parts of eastern Ohio with it. Both machines allow smaller crews to do more work in less time, and since workers never leave the ground, the equipment adds safety to the job.
