MARSHALL COUNTY –  Half the size of a football field, the ‘superload’ is on the move in Marshall County.

The 510,000-pound piece of machinery began its journey Thursday morning around 8:30. The de-ethanizer was supposed to leave at 8, but because of black ice, it took off a little later.

Dozens of people gathered to see the large load begin its route. Drivers on W.Va. 2 were backed up for miles as it made its way through Marshall County.

The trip is expected to take four days. As it moves through the county, there will be rolling shutdowns. The superload is planned to sit at Butch’s Corner at the intersection of W.Va. 86 and W.Va. 88 tonight; at Mountaineer Mart in Pleasant Valley on Friday night; and at the McElroy substation Saturday night. It’s expected to end up at the William’s Oak Grove location Sunday.
