JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio - Steubenville kicked off its 2014 residential water line project Friday.
First on the list was the Harvard Avenue waterline replacement project. City leaders said workers started the preliminary work Friday.
As a result, a portion of Lovers Lane -- the area between Sunset Boulevard and Fort Steuben Drive-- was closed until 6 p.m.
"This is probably the first residential line project the city has taken on in 50 years," City Engineer Michael Dolak said. "It's going to be a challenging project, and we just ask patience for traveling public as well as the residents."
Officials said the real work might begin Aug. 25.
