Arrest made in case of explosive devices found at Municipal Building

Updated: Thursday, May 22 2014, 08:08 AM EDT
WEIRTON, W.Va. -- The Weirton Police Department has arrested a man in connection to an incident that occurred earlier this month at the Weirton Municipal Building.
Investigators say Ohio native David Jared Patterson, 23, was arrested at his residence at 3344 West Street in Weirton as a result of an investigation launched when explosive devices were located near the city building.
Patterson was being charged with three counts of criminal use of an explosive device.

He is being interviewed and will be taken to the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail.

U.S. Attorney Bill Ihlenfeld says the FBI is assisting the Weirton PD.

Ihlenfeld said the evidence will be submitted to labs in Virginia for DNA and other testing.

He added the testing could take a few months but noted that it is a top priority.
