CULPEPER, Va. --

A woman convicted of taking money from Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort is asking a judge to postpone the seizure of her home in Virginia.

Anita Ambler, 50, of Reva, Va., is appealing her conviction in federal court in West Virginia. Her attorney, Stephen Herdon, says in a court filing that her house shouldn't be seized by the government until the appeals process is completed, according to the Culpeper Star-Exponent.

Ambler was convicted in April on charges of mail fraud, wire fraud and transacting criminal proceeds.

Prosecutors say she took more than $1 million in horse racing funds from the facility in Chester while working there.

Ambler was sentenced in July to more than seven years in prison.
