NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va - What started as an armed robbery investigation ended with a body found in an apartment building in Weirton back in December.

Thursday a Hancock County grand jury indicted the man accused in the crime on a murder charge.
Leslie Craig Arnold Jr. is charged in connection with the death of Tanya Garan. Arnold is listed in two separate indictments.

In total the grand jury returned 28 indictments, a relatively small number according to Hancock County prosecutor Jim Davis.

However, Davis said the magnitude of those indictments stands out --in particular the indictments against Arnold.

"He actually has two indictments, one for an armed robbery and felon in possession of a fire arm," Davis said. "He basically stalked the parking lot of an area on Three Springs Drive looking for a particular type of person. He approached an elderly female at gunpoint and took her car."

The other indictment was for the death of Garan. NEWS9 took a closer look at the first indictment and investigators' discovery of Garan's body, which was hidden in an apartment building, led to another charge.

"In addition to the murder, we also charged him with concealing of a deceased human body," Davis said.

Arnold still remains in jail. Judge Martin J. Gaughan has set a return date for the indictments on Jan. 29.

Davis anticipates the trial to start sometime in February.
