WEIRTON, W.Va. --

A pedestrian was injured when she was struck by a pickup truck Thursday afternoon in downtown Weirton.

A woman was walking on a crosswalk near the intersection of Main Street and Marland Heights Road around 1 p.m. when she was hit.

The woman, who police said is in her late 20s or early 30s, was transported to Weirton Medical Center. Police said she was speaking when they arrived at the scene but her condition had not been released as of 5 p.m.

Photos were taken by police and an investigation is underway. Police said the driver of the pickup truck did not appear to be speeding and alcohol was not a factor.

"One of our accident reconstructionists is heading the accident investigation. If any charges would be filed, it would be after such time the accident is completed," said Weirton Police Sgt. Steve Falbo.
