HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. - A man charged with murder and concealment of a deceased human body appeared in Hancock County Court Thursday morning.
Leslie Craig Arnold Jr., faces charges that stem from an investigation of an armed robbery that eventually led to the discovery of Tonia Garan's body wrapped inside garbage bags in a bedroom closet at the Overbook Towers in Weirton in January.
On Thursday, a trial date only for the robbery charge was set for June 16.
An anticipated trial date for his murder charge will have to wait, as the prosecution and defense await some additional information.
That's mainly the results of a psychological evaluation, which was completed in the last few weeks.
Arnold's defense attorney Sam Stillwell said they are also waiting on some of his medical records, which are in the possession of the Division of Corrections in Pennsylvania where Arnold served time for less serious charges.
Judge Martin Gaughan asked those items be expedited to Hancock County so the murder case can move forward.
"It's hard emotionally on everyone," said the victim's cousin, Donna Sullivan. "We'll wait as long as we have to."
