HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio - Progress has been made in two notable Harrison County cases, one involving a house explosion in Scio, the other a burglary that began with a vehicle slamming into a Hopedale grocery store.
They are cases that investigators have worked extensively on, not only because of the severity, but the innocent lives that were put in harm's way.
The house explosion took place along W. Main Street in Scio last May 19. Ricky Vint, the man believed to be responsible, was arraigned on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Michael Washington said Vint was charged with two felonies -- one for disturbing public services, the other for criminal damaging and endangering.  He entered a not guilty plea.
"Essentially the allegations relate to the suspect turning on gas service at a residence that led to a gas leak and an explosion," Washington said.
The other crime was a burglary that involved Michael Hawthorne.
Investigators say he was responsible for crashing a vehicle into Woods Food Center in Hopedale last month.
Hawthorne was charged with two felonies, both for breaking and entering.
Hawthorne and Vint will be back in court before the end of the month.
