Judge binds baby drowning case over to common pleas court

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- A preliminary hearing was held Friday in Steubenville Municipal Court for Celicia Wilson, the mother facing charges after her 4-month-old baby was found dead in a bathtub with her on April 2.
Judge Daniel Spahn heard nearly 2 hours of testimony from two witnesses who were in the home the day before and the morning of the incident.
In that testimony, it was revealed Wilson consumed alcohol the day before and the morning of the incident. There was some contention about just how much. That's a question that will be answered as the case moves forward. Prosecutor John Mascio argued that it wasn't just Wilson, but other adults present in the home, who were drinking.
The judge ruled there was sufficient evidence and bound the case over to the Court of Common Pleas.
The two charges will remain of felony reckless homicide and child endangerment.
Wilson’s bond was reduced from $250,000 to $125,000, based on no prior criminal record and fact that the other children are in care of child safety services
