TORONTO, Ohio -- A 17-year-old Toronto High School student who nearly died from  a rare disease returned to school Tuesday after she was in the hospital for three months.
Hanna Leasure was welcomed back with a big hug from her best friend Kristen Pursley, who made T-shirts for Hanna to raise awareness about the disease (Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis).
The T-shirts highlighted the fact that Hanna was Toronto's Homecoming Queen last fall.
Kristen says she made them when Leasure got sick. She couldn’t wait to see her best friend at school.
“Awesome,” Pursley said. “I'm so glad she's back. There’s nothing better than to see her better; she deserves to be better. She's like the best person I've ever known."
“It feels really good I missed all the teachers and  all the students,” Leasure said. “And I appreciate everything that they've done for me.”
Leasure is looking forward to prom, which is Friday.
