STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – A short chase has led to a long list of charges for two Steubenville men and a juvenile early Wednesday morning.
It happened just before 1 a.m. Police say a single shot was fired inside a Steubenville duplex in the 1300 block of Jefferson Street. As they responded, the suspects drove off, leading to a brief chase.
City cameras captured a silver vehicle fleeing the scene, heading down Adams Street.
When police caught up to the car, the pursuit didn’t stop as the three suspects led police on ride through the city.
Before coming to a stop, one of the suspects tossed a loaded .40 caliber glock out of the car on Webster Avenue between 5th and 6th streets.
Police later recovered the weapon.
Authorities said the chase ended in the 400 block of South 5th Street near the Cathedral Apartments.
The driver, Antell Maurice West, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, weapons under disability, no operator license, reckless operation and fleeing and eluding.
Meanwhile, Jevante Leroyce Childs was charged with weapons under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, and falsification for lying to police about who he was.
The juvenile was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
The investigation has been handed over to the Detective’s Division of the Steubenville Police Department. The suspects will appear in court Thursday at the earliest to address the charges listed against them.
